Hi, I’m Darold Black

I create unique, engaging moving pictures that burst with spirit and character. I’m a lifelong storyteller grounded in curiosity, craft, care and passion—and I bring a steady hand and a thoughtful eye to every frame I shape.

With more than 4 decades in the television and film industry, I’ve helped shape over 700 hours of content across documentary, commercial, dramatic, and legacy productions. From corporate films to educational dramas, news features to expedition documentaries, I’ve directed, produced, and photographed it all—with humility, integrity, and deep respect for the story at hand.

I listen. I collaborate. I dive beneath the surface to capture something honest and unforgettable. I care deeply about my clients’ messages—and I deliver them with cinematic beauty and emotional truth.

I’ve collaborated with every major network in North America—including NBC, CBS, ABC, CBC, CTV, Global and FOX—and worked alongside clients like CP, NFB, WestJet, RBC, Enbridge, TC, Cenovus, Shell, Esso, Alberta Government and more. My career has taken me across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Arctic. Each project, every location, has deepened my understanding of how stories can resonate—and how powerful video can move audiences to act, reflect, or remember.
